Building a Better Logistics Experience

Bolster's Supply Chain Visibility Module creates a digital representation of a business's port-to-port import and export supply chain that is synchronised with the physical world, allowing for faster and more accurate: decision-making, operations automation, data-driven collaboration among stakeholders, and informed disruption forecasting.

The value of the "smart container" market is projected to reach over $7 Bn by 2025, with the market leader being recently acquired by GI Partners for $1.1 Bn.

In this post, I'll share why I think that the importer/exporters of the world need "intelligence-based" supply chain visibility products like Bolster to effectively manage risk to their bottom line.

Rising Expectations

In an age where consumers have come to expect to track their parcels in near real-time, business leaders have begun to expect "consumer-grade" transparency and UX from their logistics service providers (e.g. freight forwarders, logistics managers, planners, etc.) for the materiel imports (e.g. petroleum, machinery, and seasonal produce) and exports (e.g. meat, dairy, and electronics) that drive their businesses.

However, while SaaS services like Xero and Uber have been disruptive within their respective industries, the net result is an improved customer experience and unlocked IT automation efficiencies (e.g. Database Management, APIs, AI/ML, etc.). Accountants have levelled up to Business Advisors and taxi drivers to concierges through improved automation for many tasks (e.g. electronic payments, account reconciliation, bookings, etc.).

  • Shipment tracking, ETA, ETD & Warnings. Ship details including our Carbon Emission Calculator By ship, Journey and number of Containers.. All dashboards are interactable. You can filter, export and expand. Port Schedules Just for your shipments, or the full schedule. There is no need to step out of Bolster to see receival cutoffs of schedule changes. Port Congestion at Destination ports shows likely delays. Get deeper into why the delays are happening, with Port View.

Our upcoming Supply Chain Visibility Module launch in Q1 2023 will demonstrate how doing data better can generate tangible and measurable value for any company that builds stuff, gets things, or feeds people. However, unlike existing analogue (phone calls) and/or digital solutions relying on expensive brute force hardware solutions to provide expected transparency over goods in transit, Bolster relies on efficiencies derived as a result of the integration and organisation of the data itself to deliver the same level of visibility. Our end product is a scalable solution for modelling shipments without paying costly container telemetry costs that easily scales to thousands of ongoing container journeys and users without breaking a sweat. We hope to deliver higher visibility for these goods in transit, through modern user experiences, at a relatively low cost, and without the need for container-level telemetry hardware and software (to the degree it exists…).

Help us Build it

Since we are a New Zealand company, and Aotearoa is an island nation, our initial customer-driven priorities have been around the import and export of containers and bulk goods to and from global markets by sea. If you are a leader in a company that has a gap in its maritime supply chain visibility, please reach out to set up a 30-minute call to evaluate a fit for our Q1 Supply Chain Module launch.

Lastly, We are seeking business leaders with fleet dependencies that are looking for better ROI from their telematics investments (e.g. E-Road, Samsara, etc.). If that shoe fits, please get in touch with us below.

The data and platform exist to understand and de-risk your supply chain in near real-time, so let's get started.
